Class of 2011 Mindset-Beloit College

Every fall I look forward to this list. It gives us a big of a clue as to what incoming college freshmen are like, what their world was growing up and what they know-or don't know.

Some of things on the list blow my mind, like They've never seen Johnny Carson live. What? But others I can relate to: Jerry Springer has always been lowering the level of discourse on TV.

The one that, for whatever reason, hit me the hardest: MTV has never featured music videos.

I did a whole report, in high school, on the fall of the Berlin Wall -- and it's not even part of their frame!

They expect to see humvees on the road in civilian traffic, huh? Weird!

And they will maybe learn as a history fact what Nelson Mandela went through before he was free and a force...odd.

Yeah, I like that list too. It's got some worthwhile markers of a certain group's frame of reference.
