Decaf - Handmotions in Heaven

I just love it when these two work together.

This was at the Youth Ministers' Conference. Yes, the one that was in Las Vegas. Hello planners???

Anyway, this is hysterical.

Hmmm, Las Vegas? . . . One of the fastest growing CATHOLIC dioceses in the United States.

Las Vegas?? . . . Home of the following other conferences- CATHOLIC Charities USA, CATHOLIC Daughters of America, CATHOLIC Health Association of the USA, National Black CATHOLIC Congress, National CATHOLIC Committee on Scouting, National CATHOLIC Development Conference, and the National Organization for Continuing Education of ROMAN CATHOLIC Clergy.

But, wait, here’s the real kicker. . .

Las Vegas??? The location of this spring’s American Cardinal’s Dinner supporting CATHOLIC University of America. It should be noted that this is the first time the dinner is being held outside one of the American Cardinal’s own hometowns.

Hello planners?

Anyway, Bob and Chris did absolutely totally rock the conference. Glad they were a part of the National Conference on CATHOLIC Youth Ministry in . . .

Las Vegas!

d. scott miller,
Surely you're not mocking me. Surely you missed the oddity of holding the Conference on Youth Ministry, in this day and age in a city which tried to be "family friendly" but just couldn't stomach it. Surely you missed that point.

Lots of other places available, I'm guessing, Just not utitlized.

Las Vegas seems pretty much like the perfect location for a conference to me. Inexpensive flights in and out, relatively inexpensive hotels concentrated in close proximity, an abundance of meeting space and probably thousands of great attractions in the area.

Don't know if you saw the NFCYM's site on the site: http://nfcym.org/nccym/2006/lasvegas.htm
After reading it I couldn't be more convinced that though I was unable to make it this year that it would have been a great trip.

Oh, and don't call me Shirley.

Lest you think me a Pollyanna, it was the "attractions" that had me nervous. Even the hotels have strip clubs in them, and as I understand from those who went, it was hard to not see what you didn't want to see rather often.

I realize that while it may be one of the fastest growind diocese, that other CATHOLIC organizations hold their meetings there, but this is a National YOUTH Conference.

I guess with all the priest sex scandal stuff we'd want to be sure that youth ministers who ministers to YOUTH are no where near associated with what Vegas has to offer.

This was the National Catholic YOUTH MINISTERS conference. No youth were there, just adults.
